This purse starts as a small circular motif from a magic ring, worked in shells of double crochet separated by chain-1 spaces, then grown in a second round with a color change and larger shells into each space. Two of these motifs become the front and back panels, later lined with cut fabric, fitted with a zipper, and sewn together. Before picking up the hook, have your 2.5 mm hook, both yarn colors, a stitch marker, fabric, zipper, and a butterfly bead ready on the table.

Round 1 works 8 repeats of (2 dc, ch 1) from a single magic ring and closes with a slip stitch into the third chain of the beginning ch-3, so the base circle has no side seam and starts perfectly centered.
Round 2 increases each shell from 2 dc to 3 dc while working into the same ch-1 spaces left by round 1, which is the standard way to add stitches around a growing circumference without the motif buckling or cupping.
| Crochet the two purse motifs | about 2-3 hours because each motif needs 4 rounds worked twice, with a color change and shell increases to track |
|---|---|
| Fabric lining and zipper assembly | about 1 hour because it involves cutting fabric, sewing zippers to both pieces, and attaching the slider |
| Finishing and charm | about 20-30 minutes because it is limited to sewing the lining inside the motifs and attaching the bead |
