The head grows from a magic ring through repeated increase rounds until it reaches full width, then holds steady before closing. Ears are worked flat rather than in the round. Before starting, have both hook sizes on hand (2.0 mm and 3.5 mm), black beads and white felt for the eyes, fiberfill, and sewing thread ready, since the finished sheep stands 25-28 cm (9.8-11 inches) tall.
Common mistakes and their fixes
- Losing count through the increase rounds
- Count stitches at the end of round 2, 3, and 4 against the totals given (12, 18, 24) before moving on, since a fluffy yarn makes miscounts hard to spot later.
- Using one hook for both yarns
- Keep the 3.5 mm hook for the fluffy Dolce or Dolphin Baby sections and the 2.0 mm hook for the beige Jeans sections; swapping fibers without swapping hooks leaves loose or overly tight fabric.
- Stuffing only at the very end
- Add fiberfill in stages as the head rounds progress, since the opening narrows sharply by round 20-22 and packing stuffing through a small gap is difficult.

Check these before you start
- The fluffy yarn hides stitch definition almost completely, so count stitches by feel and marker rather than by sight, especially through the increase rounds.
- Stuff the head gradually as you work rather than waiting until it closes; by round 20-22 the opening is small and firm stuffing is much easier to pack in early.

Set-up
