This doll comes together from seven separate pieces: a twenty-two-round head, a fourteen-round hat, a two-row ear worked flat and folded, a one-round strip of teeth, a five-round pair of feet, a nine-round pair of hands, and a nine-round body. Each part uses its own hook size — 2 mm for the head, feet, hands, and ear; 3.5 mm for the hat, the body, and the later rounds of the feet and hands; and 1.4 mm for the tiny teeth — so keep the doll's full set of hooks within reach alongside stuffing, a yarn needle, and scissors. Because color choice is left open, decide on a main shade plus a white contrast for the ear and pink accents for the feet and hands before starting, and settle on a stuffing density in advance so all seven pieces hold the same firmness.
Common mistakes and their fixes
- Working the ear's second round into both loops
- Round 2 of the ear is worked in the front loop only. Working into both loops removes the ridge that separates the two colors and flattens the shaping.
- Losing count across the head's twenty-two rounds
- Place a marker at the start of each round and move it up as you finish it. Recounting from scratch partway through the head wastes time and risks an uneven increase.

Check these before you start
- The head runs the longest at twenty-two rounds, so place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round and move it up as you go; that many rounds is long enough to lose your place without one.
- Stuff the head, body, feet, and hands firmly enough that the shapes hold, but keep tension even across rounds so the increases in the head do not pucker.

Set-up
- Lay out both the main color and the white contrast yarn for the ear before beginning round 2, since the color change happens mid-part.
- Confirm you have three hook sizes on hand: 2 mm as the base for the head, feet, hands, and ear; 3.5 mm for the hat, the body, and the later rounds of the feet and hands; and 1.4 mm for the teeth.
- Read through the Ear instructions once before starting; it is worked flat from a chain rather than in the round, and the front-loop-only second row is easy to miss on a first pass.
- Cut and set aside a long tail on the teeth piece as instructed, since it is used for sewing rather than fastened off short.
Finishing
- Stuff the head, body, feet, and hands to a consistent firmness before closing any remaining open rounds.
- Sew the two ear pieces together as directed, then attach the ear, hat, teeth, feet, and hands to the body and head, checking placement against the finished shapes before the final stitches lock them in.
Construction
The head's increase pattern adds six stitches every round in the early rows (6, 12, 18), the standard spacing that keeps a crocheted sphere flat and round rather than cupped or ruffled.
The ear is worked flat from a starting chain instead of in the round, then a second row is worked in the front loop only before two pieces are sewn together; this produces a flat, structured ear rather than a rounded one.
The hat is worked with the same magic-ring increase structure as the head but stops at fourteen rounds instead of continuing to a full sphere, making it a separate topper piece rather than a continuation of the head.
